Senior Data Analyst, EFTR AML

Role Overview

The Senior Data Analyst (DA) will support AML (AntiMoney Laundering) operations with a specialization in EFTR (Electronic Funds Transfer Reporting). This role requires deep analytical expertise, strong datalineage capabilities, and the ability to work across a complex ecosystem of 32+ upstream source systems to ensure accurate monitoring of wire transactions.

The DA will act as a key liaison between business stakeholders, technology teams, and operational groups, helping to trace data from its origin through to AML platforms and ensuring compliance with regulatory reporting standards.



Key Responsibilities

1. EFTR & AML Data Analysis

  • Conduct detailed analysis of EFTR data and related AML data flows.
  • Trace transactional data from multiple upstream systems through ingestion, transformation, and AML processing.
  • Investigate discrepancies, anomalies, and dataquality issues across the endtoend flow.
  • Support wiretransaction monitoring and reporting processes.

2. Data Mapping & Lineage

  • Create and maintain comprehensive datamapping documentation.
  • Perform rootcause analysis on breaks in data lineage or unexpected results.
  • Partner with sourcesystem owners to understand data origin, definitions, and transformation logic.

3. Business & Technology Partnership

  • Work closely with business partners to define data needs and translate regulatory requirements into technical analysis.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA, and support teams to resolve issues and validate system behavior.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

4. Production Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in a 24/7 AML support model as needed, assisting with escalated production issues.
  • Recommend improvements in data quality, data controls, and monitoring effectiveness.
  • Support QA activities related to EFTR and AML processing.



Required Skills & Experience

Core Data Analyst Skillsets

  • Advanced SQL proficiency (complex joins, window functions, profiling, data validation).
  • Data lineage and mapping expertise across large, multisystem environments.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to investigate ambiguous or unclear data scenarios.
  • Experience with ETL pipelines and understanding of how data is transformed across systems.
  • Ability to interpret transactionlevel data, especially in payments, banking, or AML contexts.

AML / EFTR Domain Expertise

  • Deep understanding of AML processes, including:
    • Wiretransaction monitoring
    • Regulatory reporting
    • Suspicious activity detection
  • Experience working with EFTR or similar electronic fundstransfer datasets (SWIFT, Fedwire, EFT/ACH, international payments, etc.).

Technical Skills

  • Strong SQL (required).
  • Familiarity with:
    • Data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent)
    • Scriptbased data analysis (Python or SAS is an asset)
    • ETL tools and dataintegration platforms

Soft Skills

  • Ability to communicate complex data issues clearly to senior business stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation and requirementsgathering skills.
  • Collaborative, able to work with crossfunctional teams (business, compliance, technology).
  • Detailoriented, highly organized, and comfortable working through long, multistep investigations.



Preferred Attributes

  • Background in financial services, AML, compliance, or payments.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities within a productionsupport environment.
  • Experience in environments with 24/7 operational support teams.
  • Comfortable performing deepdive analysis that may require extended investigative cycles.
