PURPOSE:
Utilizes data analytics and contributes to a set of business initiatives designed to help business partners extract value from information. Develops data visualizations for analysis, problem-solving, and business solutions.

We are not looking for generalists who may have an IT background and various credentials like Scrum, Agile, etc.

We are looking for an experienced professional in the greater Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area who is willing and able to work in a hybrid model.

The incumbent will be expected to work a portion of their week from home and a portion of their week at a CareFirst location based on business needs and work activities/deliverables that week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Mines and extracts data and applies algorithms to derive insights. Contribute to the analytics, reporting and data governance activity related to Cost of Care Reporting, including Ideation support, Hotspot/Trend Analysis, Dashboard and Report management, Specialty/Member/Provider/Other Detail Reporting and Business Care Support. Support items like AI implementations, partnerships with our IT/Data Management teams, vendor support (ex: Milliman MedInsight) and other related functions.
  • Evaluates healthcare analytics to generate insights for healthcare solutions.
  • Operates as a trusted thought partner with business leads to perform both proactive and reactive analysis for key stakeholders and derives insights between key metrics and their drivers.
  • Researches meaningful reports and analysis for health care system entities and presents on findings.
  • Creates effective key performance indicators and balanced scorecards that provide improved decision-making.
  • Builds infrastructure that supports analytical rigor and develops models and tools that drive healthcare strategy.
  • Uses business analytics to anticipate future needs of the healthcare organization. Leverages data to address business challenges using data analytics.
  • Utilized as a resource for junior business intelligence analysts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Position does not have direct reports but is expected to assist in guiding and mentoring less experienced staff. May lead a team of matrixed resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire Preferred:

  • Certified Business Intelligence Professional
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

Experience: 5 years experience with business intelligence tools, data analytics and/or database management systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior healthcare analytics experience is a must.
  • Experience with delivering work consistently and transparently to our business partners, both internal and external.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Ability to translate technical complexities to key business stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn and understand all areas of operations within the organization.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Business intelligence software, such as PowerBI, Qlik, or Tableau.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Salary Range: $80,496 - $159,874

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration.
