Location:

This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working at the following address: 5800 SW Meadows Rd., Lake Oswego, 97035.

Department Details:

The Claims Products Group is responsible for designing, delivering and continuously improving the technology products that power Kaiser Permanente-s end-to-end claims ecosystem. Our teams enable accurate, timely and compliant claims processing that supports financial stewardship and great member experiences.

We build and support core claims products that power eligibility, pricing, intake, adjudication and member communications. Our squads include Product Managers, Tapestry SMEs, developers, designers and testers who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, compliant and modernized claims capabilities. We integrate Epic Tapestry functionality with custom code, maintain regulatory and security compliance, enhance quality and efficiency through automation and DevSecOps and use Jira to manage and track our backlogs.

Internship Projects:

The intern will work as part of a delivery squad focused on building and enhancing custom Java code for our claims platform. They will also support the migration of existing ETL processes into Java as priorities allow.

Target Skillset:

We-re looking for an intern with a solid foundation in modern Java development, including Java 17 and Spring, who is comfortable working with cloud and container platforms such as Azure and OCP. Strong relational database skills, including experience with Exadata, are important, along with strong troubleshooting abilities and an understanding of secure coding practices. Familiarity with DevSecOps tools such as GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube, Nexus, Prisma Cloud, DynaTrace, Splunk and automated CI/CD pipelines is also valuable.

  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
