Overview:

McGuireWoods is seeking a talented and motivated Graphic Designer to join our in-house creative team. Reporting to the Design Manager, this role is responsible for producing high-quality digital, print, and occasional video or animated assets that support firmwide marketing, business development, communications, and event initiatives.

This role also includes project management responsibilities, such as coordinating timelines, managing stakeholders, and keeping creative initiatives on track. Prior project management experience is a plus, and familiarity with ClickUp will be especially valued.

The ideal candidate is a strong visual problem-solver with excellent typography skills, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to execute efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. The designer should be comfortable working within established brand guidelines, managing multiple projects at once, and taking ownership of their day-to-day workload.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and produce a wide range of creative assets across digital, print, and presentation formats, including:
    • Social media graphics
    • Email and digital marketing assets
    • Event and conference materials
    • Presentations (PowerPoint)
    • Brochures, flyers, and other digital and print collateral
    • Internal communications and firmwide initiatives
  • Ensure all creative work aligns with and reinforces McGuireWoods' brand standards and visual identity.
  • Collaborate closely with the Design Manager, design team, and broader marketing and communications teams to support campaigns, initiatives, and deadlines across the firm.
  • Support project management for creative initiatives by helping track timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and ensure deliverables are completed efficiently. Balance multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Translate creative direction, feedback, and business objectives into polished, effective design solutions.
  • Prepare files for print and digital production, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and proper technical specifications.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and printers as needed to support production and delivery.
  • Maintain awareness of design trends, tools, and best practices across print, digital, typography, motion, AI, and visual storytelling.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional graphic design experience, in-house, agency, or equivalent.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Advanced working knowledge of PowerPoint and Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent typography skills and a solid understanding of layout, hierarchy, and visual systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to design for print and digital environments.
  • Strong organizational, time management, multitasking, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to assist with project management efforts, including coordinating across teams and tracking deliverables.
  • Ability to work collaboratively under the guidance of a design manager, as well as independently with internal stakeholders.
  • High degree of initiative, accountability, and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong online portfolio is required and must demonstrate thoughtful design, attention to detail, and real-world application.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience with video, animation, or motion graphics.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Adobe Firefly.
  • Experience using project management tools; experience with ClickUp is a plus and will move candidates to the top of the list.
  • Prior experience managing design projects or coordinating multiple deliverables.
  • Experience designing for a law firm, professional services, corporate, or highly regulated brands.
  • Understanding of digital accessibility standards and best practices.
