Location: METROHEALTH MEDICAL CENTER
Biweekly Hours: 80.00
Shift: Day/Eve rotation, rotating weekends and holidays

Summary:
Coordinating the medical control program for pre-hospital providers such as Cleveland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the Emergency Care Patient Care Unit. Participates in quality assurance, educational, public relations, and research activities for the Emergency Department and Life Flight Program. Provides summary statistics and reports on medical control calls, issues, and performance improvement initiatives. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System (MHS).
Qualifications:
Required: Possesses all of the requirements for either a Paramedic OR Registered Nurse (RN) as listed below. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Supports (ACLS) certification. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, OR its equivalent, such as Pre-Hospital Emergency Pediatric Program (PEPP) certification. Possess an ACLS AND PALS Instructor certification, OR obtains both within 1 year of hire. Demonstrated experience and aptitude in pre-hospital educational activities, with the ability to develop curriculum. Experience in quality assurance/performance improvement or hospital/pre-hospital care instruction. Familiar with personal computers and basic spreadsheet programs. Has access to reliable transportation. Willing to travel to other locations within The MetroHealth System and/or EMS sites based on operational needs. If Paramedic: HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam. Graduate of an accredited paramedic program, AND possess a current Emergency Medicine Technician - Paramedic (EMT-P) certification for the State of Ohio. 5 years of experience working for in pre-hospital provider, in an emergency care environment, or a combination of both. Possess a Paramedic instructor certification from an accepted issuing body, OR obtains within 6 months of hire. If RN: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution. Current RN license for the State of Ohio. 5 years of experience working in an Emergency Department, Trauma Center, or pre-hospital care area. Possess a State of Ohio certified EMS Continuing Education Instructor certification, OR obtains within 6 months of hire. Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution. Experience coordinating EMS activities. 1 year of management or leadership experience in a pre-hospital emergency care environment and/or ED. If RN, holds an EMT or Paramedic certification. Physical Requirements: May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance.
