Job Title: Boiler Engineer Location: Gibsonton, FL
Compensation: $120,000 - $130,000 base salary + 10% annual bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Position Summary: The HRSG/HEP Engineer leads the development and continuous improvement of maintenance and monitoring strategies for Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) and High Energy Piping (HEP) across the fleet. This mid-to-senior level role applies risk-based assessment, reliability engineering principles, and project management expertise to drive system reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities: - Develop and execute risk-based reliability strategies for HRSG and HEP systems
- Implement predictive monitoring plans to replace time-based maintenance
- Prioritize and recommend capital improvements, inspections, and outage work
- Lead engineering projects and provide technical oversight for plant initiatives
- Support outage and project planning including specs, scheduling, and cost estimates
- Conduct root cause analyses and manage reliability metrics
Required Qualifications: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ABET accredited)
- Experience: 6+ years in mechanical system design, implementation, or maintenance
- Knowledge:
- Strong expertise in HRSGs and HEP systems
- NDE methods (e.g., VT, PT, PAUT, MT)
- Welding principles and failure mechanisms
- Power plant operations
- Leadership: Ability to lead project teams and resolve technical issues
- Certifications: None required; PE in Florida preferred
Preferred Qualifications: - Master's in Engineering or Engineering Management
- 5+ years in heavy industrial or power plant environments
- Supervisory or mentoring experience
- Reliability-centered maintenance knowledge
- Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills
Additional Requirements: - Must be able to climb, bend, and work in noisy, dusty environments
- Willing to work irregular hours or holidays if needed
- Must use PPE and follow safety protocols in a power plant setting
