The University of Tennessee Foundation seeks to fill a position as an Assistant or Associate Director of Development in a major gifts role based in Nashville , Tennessee area for the University of Tennessee Knoxville Campus. The level of the position will be commensurate with the number of years of experience. The Assistant or Associate Director will serve as a major gift officer for the UT Knoxville Campus in the Middle Tennessee area. As a major gift officer, this individual will be responsible for annually conducting a minimum of 180personal visits, delivering 20-30 written proposals and raising $1-$1.5 million annually depending on the experience that is relevant to the role. In this role, the individual will work directly with the development officers in each college to assist them in their fundraising efforts with greater Middle Tennessee area residents, specifically alumni and friends. Other responsibilities include engaging with the UT Alumni Association volunteer leadership in the area. This position will report to the Regional Director of Development, Nashville. This position does require travel with some overnight travel and the ability to have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Required qualifications : Assistant Director level requires one to three years of successful development experience or equivalent professional experience; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; ability to serve a diverse constituency; ability and willingness to travel and attend evening and weekend events; bachelor’s degree. This level will be responsible for raising $1 million annually, 180 personal visits, and delivering 20 – 25 written proposals. Associate Director level requires three or more years of successful development experience or equivalent professional experience; excellent communications and interpersonal skills; ability to serve a diverse constituency; ability and willingness to travel and attend evening and weekend events; bachelor’s degree. This level will be responsible for raising $1.5 million annually, 180 personal visits, and delivering 25-30 written proposals. Desired qualifications : Successful experience and proven track record of successful major gift solicitation in higher education. Experience in strategic planning and capital campaigns; proven ability to prioritize and manage complex projects and to work in a fast-paced, team environment; appreciation of the unique role of alumni and friends in a major land grant and research university.
