Job Summary The Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (12 CICU) is a 16-bed adult cardiac medicine intensive care unit. The unit specializes in patients who have heart failure, acute MI, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary hypertension, congenital heart defects, bridge to transplant, as well as patients requiring interventions. Patients may require the following therapies: Swan-Ganz catheter with FICK calculations, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella devices, CRRT, or Therapeutic Hypothermia. 12 Medical Acute Care (12 MAC) is a 32-bed adult cardiac/telemetry/stepdown unit. 12MAC nurses provide specialty care for a variety of cardiology patients. Common diagnoses include heart failure, arrhythmias, acute coronary syndrome, and pulmonary hypertension. The patient population includes those with Implanted Ventricular Assist Devises (VADs) and those receiving prostacyclin infusions.
