Peer Support Specialists will be expected to take the lead on engagement and may also conduct non-clinical assistance by providing support to consumers after the initial crisis has been resolved. Peer Specialists will be required to demonstrate competency in providing peer-to-peer support prior to rendering services independently. The 988 Program provides 24/7 mobile community outreach services to adults in crisis, including mental health, substance use, and suicidal emergencies. Staff dispatch to crises in teams of two, with a Crisis Response Specialist and a Peer Support Specialist, to provide assessment, risk assessment, safety planning, linkage to services, and follow-up care. Kairos House is a short-term residential program located in Burlington County that offers a safe, therapeutic option for those who are at risk of hospitalization due to exacerbation of their mental illness; or for those who need further stabilization and/or a transition period following an inpatient stay. Services include case management, treatment, housing assistance, wellness groups and life skills training. The Support Specialist provides mental health services to adults who have a chronic mental illness in a respite setting. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the consumers served. Provides direct supervision of the consumers residing in the residential setting. Provides crisis intervention as needed.
