The Allied Music Therapist will independently plan and facilitate music therapy groups, document client progress, and attend treatment team meetings. Draw from research in the field and previous experience to independently design therapeutic musical tasks that meet a variety of needs, interests, and abilities. Facilitate music therapy groups using a variety of methods. Assess client needs and interests as well as musical and non-musical behaviors at outset of treatment and establish individual therapeutic goals. Plan, review, and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness as well as aid planning for future sessions. Observe, evaluate and document both client behavior and content of musical contributions in group progress notes, offering insight into psychological implications of music-making and verbal processing when applicable.
