Summary Delta Star Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and professional Quality Auditor (Tank Fabrication Shop) to ensure product quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction throughout the manufacturing of power and mobile transformers. This role combines hands-on inspection, process auditing, and customer-facing responsibilities. As a key representative of the company, you’ll frequently host customers during plant visits, product inspections, and progress reviews, making professionalism and customer service essential to success.
What You’ll Do As a Quality Auditor (Tank Fabrication Shop), you’ll verify product quality through in-process and final inspections of electrical and mechanical components, ensuring conformance to engineering specifications. You’ll promote and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001:2015, document inspection results, and oversee corrective actions for non-conformances. You’ll also serve as a point of contact for customers during inspections, providing clear communication and a positive experience.
A Day in the Life Your day may begin on the tank shop floor, conducting inspections and using precision measurement tools to confirm components meet specifications. You’ll record results, flag non-conforming materials, and collaborate with production, engineering, and management teams to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
Throughout the day, you’ll host customer visits, guide product reviews, and present inspection results in a professional and confident manner. You’ll also participate in internal audits, assist with root cause analysis, and contribute to corrective action planning. Maintaining calibrated measuring equipment, supporting employee training on quality requirements, and occasionally traveling to customer or supplier sites will round out your responsibilities.
What We’re Looking For The ideal candidate will have experience in welding or fabrication environment with strong skills in inspection, blueprint reading, and customer communication. You should be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently, while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. Professionalism and customer service are key, as you’ll often represent the company directly to clients.
Position Requirements - High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in welding or fabrication in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Completion of a certification or technical trade program (welding or electrical) may substitute for work experience
- Proficiency in using measurement tools (calipers, gauges, tape measures, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for customer-facing interactions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic quality measurement tools
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently
Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience in transformer manufacturing or heavy industrial equipment inspection
- Electrical or welding trade training, certification, or background
- Six Sigma training or certification
- Experience leading or contributing to cross-functional quality improvement teams
