WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Slate is looking for an energetic, organized, and experienced Senior Engineer, Battery Pack Structural CAE to help drive our growing engineering organization. In this role, you'll perform and review CAE simulations for vehicle development and guide optimization of EV body and high-voltage battery structures. You'll report to the CAE Manager, NVH / Durability / CFD, and collaborate closely with Virtual Engineering, Propulsion, Electrical, and Vehicle Integration teams.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Define subsystem and component-level requirements for HV battery systems and vehicle integration.
Use CAE tools to lead battery structural design and ensure it meets performance targets.
Develop and review load cases for Crash Safety, Durability, and NVH.
Review supplier structural analyses for Safety, Durability, NVH, and thermal performance; partner with suppliers to resolve issues.
Identify optimized solutions that balance integrated subsystem and component requirements.
Recommend verification testing to confirm CAE results and participate in correlation activities.
Apply DOE / DFSS or other advanced methods to drive design optimization.
Communicate analysis outcomes and countermeasures clearly across teams.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field is required. Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
8+ years of experience with battery pack or EV propulsion / battery simulations focused on Crash Safety, NVH, and Durability.
Proficiency with CAE tools, such as LS-Dyna, OptiStruct, Abaqus, NASTRAN, ANSA / META, HyperView, and HyperMesh.
Strong understanding of EV propulsion systems and battery pack components, functions, and requirements.
Familiarity with FMVSS, USNCAP, and IIHS battery-pack requirements.
Experience with random vibration fatigue analysis on HV battery components.
Experience correlating CAE results with physical tests.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the ability to travel (up to 10%).
Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
