Role overview:
Our client is seeking a Social Media Manager to backfill coverage during a parental leave. This role is ideal for a hands-on social expert who excels in both day-to-day execution and guiding social strategy for multiple brands.
This contractor will ensure seamless continuity of the existing 2026 social media plan, maintain smooth operations, and provide people leadership for 2 Community Managers. This role is approximately 80% execution, 10% strategy, and 10% people management.
Key Responsibilities:
SOCIAL MEDIA EXECUTION (80%)
- Manage daily publishing, content reviews, approvals, and optimization across multiple brands.
- Maintain the existing annual social media plan and ensure flawless operational execution.
- Partner closely with Community Managers to guide content recommendations, ensure accuracy, and support weekly tasks and KPI tracking.
- Refine insights from Community Managers' data dives, synthesize findings, and translate into actionable recommendations
- Support planning cycles, including campaign testing, annual planning inputs, and cross-functional collaboration with PR, Brand, and Earned Media teams.
SOCIAL STRATEGY (10%)
- Activate existing brand strategies; ensure alignment to social best practices
- Identify real-time opportunities, trends, and optimizations in partnership with brand teams.
- Review reporting deliverables and share insights with cross-functional stakeholders.
PEOPLE LEADERSHIP (10%):
- Mentor/manage 2 direct reports - both Community Managers
- Conduct weekly 1:1s as well as a weekly social team portfolio meeting
- Conduct a bi-weekly earned media meeting
- Support goal tracking and ensure accurate, complete reporting and task management.
- Partner with your Manager on performance alignment
The ideal candidate:
- Proficient in social media tools such as Sprout Social and Wrike. The client utilizes PowerPoint and Sharepoint for content calendar organization.
- 5+ years of social media experience, ideally in both strategy and community management
- Proven understanding of social best practices, content performance, and analytics
- Experience executing multi-brand social portfolios
- Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
- Demonstrated people leadership (former supervisor experience helpful, not required)
- CPG experience preferred but not required
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting parental leave backfills or stepping into fast moving portfolios.
- Trend-spotting or real-time social activation skills.
- High energy, proactive style; someone who loves social and can operate independently.
