Habitat for Humanity brings people together to create and preserve homeownership in our neighborhoods, to partner with hard-working, low-income families to be successful homeowners, and to inspire action that promotes affordable housing for everyone in our community.
We’re best known for our Homeownership program where volunteers build and rehab simple, quality homes in partnership with low-income families and the community. We sell the homes with affordable, zero percent interest mortgages, making a 30-year commitment to each new homeowner and to the community in which they live. We also preserve homeownership by helping low-income homeowners repair and maintain their homes through our A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) program.
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity has hosted AmeriCorps members to build and repair homes in the 7 county metro area for the past 20 years. We will have 24 full time AmeriCorps members beginning a year of service in September and end in August of 2016. Members are assigned to a staff site supervisor to form the leadership teams to manage volunteer groups. Volunteers are scheduled weekly on Habitat for Humanity construction and ABWK sites throughout the year. The members help the affiliate provide positive and meaningful experiences for its volunteers.
Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity is the first Yellow Ribbon nonprofit in the country, accredited by the Veterans Administration to provide services to military families.
