La Tienda’s Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for managing the warehouse operations, employees, processes and systems that support the business. The OM also oversees the facilities needs of the Toano, Virginia warehouse and offices as well as the Retail Store location in Williamsburg, Virginia. The OM ensures productivity targets are met, warehouse operations are efficient and accurate, ensures shipping/receiving/inventory controls are in place and maintains including accurate data entry into our ERP system, EPICOR. The OM serves as the building liaison to other building occupants, identifies and resolves current and potential maintenance problems, ensures workplace health and safety requirements are met and is responsible for security of the building and stock. The OM oversees a staff of eight to ten employees year round and up to fifty seasonal employees. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES - Manages/Supervises, provides day-to-day leadership, coaching and development, job assignments and performance evaluations for the Production Lead and Inventory Maintenance Lead. Makes recommendations about hiring, promotions and terminations. Establishes and holds weekly one-on-one meetings and staff meetings for Warehouse Department.
- Manages and plans annual budget for Operations, specifically the Warehouse Department. Plans, executes and monitors the annual labor budget, including holiday season labor.
- Directs the activities involved in the efficient movement of product including receipt, storage and distribution maximizing space, resources and avoiding waste or damages. This may include oversight of products in off-site storage and fulfillment centers, in addition to our Toano warehouse.
- Establishes effective written procedures (SOP’s) and controls for the safe and efficient movement and preservation of product in the warehouse; monitors adherence to established procedures to ensure safety and sanitation measures are followed.
- Responsible for all inbound and outbound transportation. Control freight costs and negotiate shipping quotes with carriers (not including UPS/FedEx). Responsible for materials handling (maintaining supply levels, requests for quotes). Collaborates with Purchasing Supply Chain staff in Europe.
- Resolves issues or concerns raised by internal customers pertaining to product attributes, inventory levels, etc. in a timely manner.
- Oversees and directs the activities of facility management including safe and efficient operation of equipment, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, heating, air-conditioning and waste management; conducts facility inspections to ensure equipment and facility are operational; identifies opportunities for improvements to reduce waste, schedules and oversees repairs, and manages contractors to ensure compliance to contracts.
- Collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer on renewing liability insurances for facilities.
- Collaborates with HR and the CFO on contracts, monitors activities of service vendors and consults with building maintenance to ensure harmonious tenant relations.
- Maintains warehouse security and safety marshal program in collaboration with HR. Responsible for HACCP and CTPAT warehouse plan. Knowledge of FDA, OSHA, and USDA compliance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university or relative work experience equivalent to five (5) years or more.
- Must have at least five (5) years experience in warehouse operations/shipping/receiving environment in a leadership position.
- Must have experience with ERP systems, EPICOR Software knowledge a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Minimum of one to three (3) years managing direct reports.
- Ability to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
- Must be detail oriented, be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are a must.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Must work well in a team environment and be able to interact with other employees, outside consultants, software and hardware vendors.
- Must work well under pressure, excellent organizational abilities, set and meet deadlines, be able to manage several priorities in a day; must be adaptable, creative and self-motivated.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., which includes repetitive movement.
- This position is designated Essential. Must be able to work additional hours in and around set schedule as needed during inclement weather conditions or emergency situations.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Under La Tienda’s compensation structure, this position is in the Operations Job Family at the Manager/Lead Specialist level. Salary is commensurate with experience.
