The New Orleans Police Department is made up of five bureaus consisting of over 1400 men, women, officers and civilians. The New Orleans Police Department, under the leadership of Superintendent Michael S. Harrison, is engaged in a complete transformation in its approach to ensuring that New Orleans is a safer place to live, work and visit.

The mission of the New Orleans Police Department is to provide professional police services to the public in order to maintain order and protect life and property. The NOPD identifies and solves problems by forming partnerships with the citizens of New Orleans to enhance their quality of life and make the city safer for locals and visitors alike.
