Charleston Navigation Company is the company serving the harbor pilots who work in the Port of Charleston. We are actively seeking a dispatcher.  Duties include the following:
onitor ship traffic in the Port of Charleston and coordinate harbor pilot transfers to and from foreign and domestic cargo ships.  Requires regular communications by radio, phone, fax, and e-mail with our fleet of launch vessels, cargo ships at sea, shipping agents, port authorities, tugboats, Coast Guard, local law enforcement, other government agencies, and other port businesses.  Monitor tide and weather conditions.  Assign pilots and facilitate transportation by vessel or vehicle.  Monitor ship movements by transponder systems and other technology.  Maintain operations database.  Review and revise schedule as warranted.  Requires unflappable problem solving as delays and unforeseen circumstances are frequent.  Work schedule is 12 hour night shift (7PM-7AM) x 7 days, every other week.  Benefits offered.
