Vice President of Operations

The Vice President of Operations will:
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement the overall strategic plan for the organization.
  • Create operational strategic plans for the scheduling, manufacturing and distribution functions. Optimize the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives and service levels of our organization.
  • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass manufacturing and distribution goals, company profitability, business goals and objectives.
  • Establish individual department objectives and provide day to day leadership for the sites to reach their productivity, quality, accuracy, shipment/delivery, and inventory goals.
  • Ensure effective communication at all levels of the organization.
  • Drive operational excellence and best practices across the network.
 
        Essential Functions of This Role:
  • Incorporate continuous improvement methodologies throughout manufacturing, scheduling and distribution to drive productivity/process improvement, reduce costs/wastes and exceed customer service levels.
  • Develop, implement and optimize best practices in critical aspects of operations such as systems (SAP) integration, manufacturing efficiency and quality, inventory management, picking methodologies/technologies, and safety programs.
  • Promote the use of technology, software and equipment, to continuously improve process and performance.
  • Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes, internal and external. Define and deliver on key performance indicators related to EBITDA, customers, fill rates, on time delivery performance, quality, safety, manufacturing efficiencies, maintenance, waste, fixed expense to budget and inventory levels.
  • Develop and execute site location plans including operating budget, capital plans, staffing and capacity.
  • Develop and manage budgets and track cost/service performance metrics; work with business units, finance, procurement, production and operations to ensure budgetary alignment for profitable growth, appropriate cost tracking tools, accurate internal cost allocations and cost reporting.
  • Champion safety, quality and customer service in all activities. Ensures all activities and objectives of operating departments comply with internal standards, customer audit specifications and all local, state, federal regulations in product safety, operational/environmental compliance, and social compliance.
  • Build, motivate, evaluate and lead a high performance management team; attract, recruit and retain required members of the team; instill a culture of accountability; provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.
  • Represent the company with customers, investors, and business partners.
                Desired Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 - 15 years of progressively responsible operations management experience, with at least five years of experience leading a large multi-site group in manufacturing and logistics.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning.
  • Must be a problem solver, decisive and result oriented leader with a high sense of urgency.
  • Proven track record of operations excellence by lowering costs and improving service levels in manufacturing and distribution.
  • Experience with fostering continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Successful experience managing operations in a matrix environment.
  • Proven abilities to manage budget of $1 million or greater.
  • Must have a solid understanding of financial performance indicators and capital management experience.
  • Ability to develop, coach and manage potential high performance leaders.
  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and management team.
  • Ability to travel 15 - 20% of time
  • Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing Certification Desired
  • Experience in SAP Enterprise Resource Planning a plus
  • Ability to, develop, motivate, engage and maintain a productive team of highly skilled and efficient support personnel, while providing ongoing training, development, coaching and mentoring.
  • Adhere to and reinforce exceptional ethical standards through personal actions creating a culture of professionalism, honesty and integrity, as well as ability to strictly maintain confidentiality with employee and organizational information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to interact successfully with a diverse group of people, including employees, internal and external clients. 
  • Advanced Experience with Microsoft Office:  Word, Excel, Power Point, Access, and Visio.
                                                                                                                 
                Education/Certification Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Management, Logistics or related field required.
  • MBA Preferred.
