The Structural Trades work unit of the Facilities Management Department maintains the physical structures, surfaces, doors, windows and building system components (including fabrication work and installation of signs) for Mines and keeps them in safe and functional condition. The unit provides all related services necessary to maintain facilities in good working condition, meeting all standards and codes in order to support the mission of a campus with facilities totaling 2.4 million square feet comprising of 474 acres. Structural Trades I positions assist Structural Trades II and III in providing quality general service for campus buildings to include painting, drywall, flooring repair, door and window installation/repair, roof and gutter repair, plumbing and minor electrical work, minor general maintenance and carpentry repair, preventative maintenance and snow removal. Positions utilize a computerized work order system to track time and materials used in completing work and to describe how the work was completed.  This position will work Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. The HVAC Technician I performs preventative maintenance tasks, and repair of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.  The position's duties will primarily involve changing air handling unit filters; maintaining HVAC equipment, exhaust fans, air compressors, pumps, chillers, cooling towers, mechanical rooms; and repair or replacement of these elements in coordination with the Building Operations Shop.  Other duties will include cleaning cooling towers and punching chiller tubes, supporting other operations as needed, and providing assistance with water treatment of open and closed loop systems.  May be required to work some evening and/or weekend preventative maintenance work.
