This position is for a part-time (24 hrs/wk) Groundskeeper/Maintenance Person to work in a 200 unit community in Alameda. The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of groundskeeping, janitorial, construction, maintenance or similar experience. Candidate must have basic computing skills and the ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Final candidates must submit to a background check that includes criminal history and DMV. Typical duties include; general grounds keeping, landscaping, installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, cleaning of offices and bathrooms, taking out garbage, painting, maintaining common areas, some carpentry, setting up for meetings and other duties as required. Must be good with tools and machinery. Must be a hard worker and self-directed team player. Sufficient education and technical expertise to comprehend written and oral instructions, to accomplish maintenance tasks and to document accomplished tasks. 3 to 5 years minimum prior experience in general maintenance/custodial work. Strong mechanical aptitude and a proven work record in electrical, plumbing, painting and landscaping. Valid CA driver's license and clean DMV motor vehicle record required, in addition to reliable transportation. Be able to safely lift 40 pounds, and otherwise physically capable of executing on the essential functions of this job.
