Founded in 1948, Budway has been a family-owned business ever since. We have had facilities all throughout California specializing in LTL freight. In 1996, Budway made the leap forward to begin transporting Steel Coils (rolled) for a major US Steel Mill in Pittsburg, CA. Today, Budway continues to specialize in the delivery of Rolled Metal Products (i.e., Steel Coils, Steel Pipe, Rebar) while expanding into compatible growth markets areas (i.e., drywall, steel beams, DDGS, Fly Ash).

Rail-Transloading Services
You can ship your products by rail efficiently and cost-effectively as Budway is directly dual-served by both railroads serving Southern California. Our Fontana terminal is switched daily, and our five rail spurs enable us to spot 60 railcars simultaneously, providing you with fast and efficient transloading of your product.
In addition to our thirty-ton overhead cranes, your product can be transloaded using a number of lifts, including 50,000 pound exterior forklifts and a variety of boxcar lifts with capacities from 5,000 to 35,000 pounds. Budway has the expertise and equipment to transload your materials from coil cars, boxcars, center beam cars, flat cars, and gondolas.
Inventory Management Services
At Budway, inventory management means more than just taking a product off of a truck or railcar and placing it into storage. We treat your products as if they were our own, inspecting your product for damage upon arrival, tracking your product’s location en route to us, securing your product’s placement in our yard or transload center, monitoring your product’s location while on site and when en route to its destination, and providing you with the reports you need to make your job easier.
Port Services
Our entire fleet transits the Los Angeles area multiple times each day. We have the capacity to load and deliver your import materials from the break-bulk berths of the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach with growing experience with containerized products.
Information Services
Budway has created proprietary technology solutions to track and manage the movement of railcars, trucks, and products. We use these programs to control inventory, to assign loads and dispatch drivers, to manage our resources, and to audit and measure our on-time and zero-defect performance. We also use these information systems to provide you with real-time data on your product’s status and location, available to you around-the-clock with direct access via the internet.
