My father, Thomas (Tom), is a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the neck-down, seeking a committed and trust-worthy personal care attendant. As of right now, he is looking for someone to work either on the weekdays or weekends, roughly from 8/9AM-2PM. Duties include, but are not limited to: 1. assisting with daily living activities, such as mobility (lifting him up several times is required), eating/preparing meals, bathing/grooming/dressing, and helping him with medications or other medically necessary procedures to help him with going to the bathroom, and 2. other incidental activities that he is physically incapable of doing, such as cleaning/vacuuming/mopping, laundry, feeding him, and helping him with transportation to various medical appointments or shopping excursions.
For the most part, Tom attempts to retain his independence through the use of his electronic wheelchair, so actually attending him while he shops or even goes to his doctor's appointment(s) may not be necessary unless a doctor advises someone to attend with him that can physically lift him. He does require, however, a sense of patience, as he can be occasionally demanding in terms of instant gratification--because he is unable to physically pick up the pillow on the floor, he will continue to tell you to pick it up because it will bother him, much like it would bother anyone. He does try to keep things organized, so access to his medical supplies should not be an issue for you.
Interested individuals seeking a stable income with early morning to early afternoon availability should contact Thomas directly at 978-454-4717. You will be able to arrange a time to meet him to discuss the details of the job more in detail, as well as to discuss terms of payment and the application process.
Thank you for your interest, and Tom looks forward to hearing from you soon.
