General Description This is job is at a Depot Level repair facility maintenance on types of aircraft, which include, but not limited to F/A-18 A-G and F-35. Military aviation platform experience is a plus. This position will require a government issued clearance. Duties Perform a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems, e.g., bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets and fuel tanks. These items and systems have combined straight and curved edges and irregular curves and planes Analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal systems and items; develop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development; fabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, aluminum; replace sections and patch old systems; cut, bend, shape, and form metals for items that have numerous irregular angles, planes, and curves with varying pitch and circumference; use a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints, drill or punch holes; and assemble or repair items by seaming, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking. Duties Assemble staging, scaffolds and work stands necessary to perform the full function of the paint shop. Prepare aircraft, engines, support equipment, and components for finish using various chemicals, detergents, and solvents in conjunction with high pressure steam and water. Apply chemical conversion coating to bare substrate, sand and featheredge existing coatings using various grits of abrasives. Apply protective and decorative coating and paint finishes to aircraft, engines, ground support equipment and components; and paint insignias, lettering and designs on aircraft and components. Apply decals transfer and stencils to identify and decorate aircraft, engines, ground support equipment and components; apply sophisticated coating materials such as, but not limited to, waterbornes, elastomeric, and low volatile organic compounds materials to aircraft, ground support equipment, and components; apply radiation-reflecting coatings to cockpit and canopy enclosures; mix primers sealers and topcoat material to required viscosity for individual job or entire paint shop; treat corrosion; and perform wet and dry tape tests. Have skills in the use of measuring devices and gauges used to determine thickness, viscosity, surface smoothness and gloss of the applied coatings. Prepare the substrate for coating using a variety of pretreatment methods using chemicals, detergents and solvents in conjunction with high-pressure steam and water. Perform sanding and featheredging to existing coatings and shall select proper grit abrasives necessary to ensure adequate substrate smoothness prior to the finish application. Mask and protect surfaces not to be finished by the use of masking tape, discs, fixtures, plugs and/or covers. Use and maintain conventional, electrostatic, and high volume low pressure (HVLP) paint equipment and shall use a variety of materials such as lacquers, enamels, sealers, urethanes, waterbornes, epoxies, elastomerics, and ceramic coatings. Manufacture and maintain stencils, patterns, layouts and apply national and foreign insignias, special markings and designs required by military specifications and individual activities. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Aircraft Electricians perform work involved in routine disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, and installation and maintenance of aircraft electrical systems.  This job is at a Depot Level repair facility performing maintenance on types of aircraft, which include, but not limited to, F/A-18, E-2/C-2, H-1, and F-35.  Military aviation experience is a plus. DUTIES Correct minor discrepancies by removal, repair, or replacement of defective or deleted circuits, wires, connectors, control units, plugs, switches, circuit breakers, relays, and other parts of aircraft electrical systems. Perform limited functional checks on existing and newly installed aircraft electrical systems, equipment, wiring, and cables to check continuity, resistance, amperage, and insulation breakdown with meters, bridges, meggers, and specialized test sets. Perform final functional and operational tests of complex electrical systems, components, and accessories, with intricate wiring systems under actual or ground power such as automatic flight control, armament, landing gear, antiskid, ignition, stall warning, power distribution, engine drive alternator and fuel indicating systems. Work from technical publications, technical drawings, schematics, layouts, or other specifications. Set up and operate computer-controlled automatic test equipment (ATE) to run established and new diagnostic programs in various operational and functional test modes to perform pretest or final checkout of the electrical/electronic and interrelated systems. Use a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing equipment. All work is subject to review and evaluation by a higher graded worker, supervisor, or a quality control inspector during and upon completion of work assignments for conformance to standards and specifications. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have at least three (3) years of relevant experience as an Aircraft Electrician (with military experience) preferred. Shall have knowledge of aircraft hydraulic systems and functions in order to adapt the unit under test/calibration to the test stand by assembling segments of circuitry composed of connectors, fittings, adapters, valves, gauges, and electrical power. Shall be knowledgeable in hydraulic flight control systems to include actuators for flaps, slats, rudders, and ailerons. Shall have knowledge of test stands and test equipment in order to perform periodic inspections to ensure safe and proper usage, accuracy of instrumentation, and good housekeeping.
