Montana Conservation Corps' Veterans Green Corps is a crew based program that provides veterans of OIF and OEF an oppertunity to redefine their service to the country, while giving them the tools and resources to become active members in their communities.
Crew live, camp, eat and work together in an intense social environment of hard work and brothergood that fosters a strong sense of comaraderie and commitment to the team, Crews spend 10 weeks completing fuels reduction projects on public lands, while engaging in a variety of technical and soft skills training and practice. With these skills in hand, veterans are better prepared to pursue civilian jobs with public land agencies.
Veterans Corps Program Dates:
Late May - August and August - Ocober
Veterans recive:
300+ hours of technical skills training/ractice
S212 Wildland Fire Chainsaw training/certification
Soft skills training
Basic Wildland Firefighter training
Networking with land management employers
After service networking with Veterans Green Jobs
Instruction on applying for federal jobs with Veterans and non=competitive hiring options
PLACE based education
Living Stipend and education award
