IFHMB is a private non-profit organization with a mission to eliminate discrimination in housing. To that end, IFHMB works with the County of San Bernardino, entitlement cities, and unincorporated regions to affirmatively further fair housing activities. The main focus is allow anyone seeking housing to be able to live in their area of their choice; IFHMB works with low to moderate income families by providing education on their rights and responsibilities regarding state and Federal fair housing rights and responsibilities and works closely with the Department of Housing and Urban Development in ensuring housing rights are enforced. In addition to education programs on fair housing, IFHMB offers Landlord/Tenant mediation counseling services, providing a neutral environment for property owners and tenants to discuss and remedy issues; housing counseling services provide classes on first-time homebuying, reverse mortgage counseling, rental counseling, default and foreclosure, and displacement/homeless counseling. IFHMB also utilizes paralegals in providing the County Courts system with alternative dispute mediation services for unlawful detainer and small claims actions. Staff working for IFHMB must be dedicated to the mission of eliminating discrimination in housing.
