EDUCATION NEEDED:
High school graduate with additional technical courses equivalent to one year college training with demonstrated competence in programming and operating CMM’s using PC DEMIS or Tutor for Windows, knowledgeable in blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, general metrology calibration skills required
EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Over three years experience as mechanical inspector in a metal working environment, with good communication skills to document and implement inspection procedures and train others. Able to communicate via Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Basic responsibilities include establishment of unique inspection methods for measuring various types of parts, including improvising and suggesting special measurement set ups, fixtures and probes as needed. Develop and evaluate computer programs for measuring parts on CMM’s or other automatic inspection equipment. Achieve accurate, repeatable, and productive inspection methods. Using statistical procedures, where appropriate, evaluate differences in measurement methods and recommend correct methods to resolve measurement credibility problems.
Responsible for continual evaluation of measuring equipment to assure acceptable accuracy and precision is maintained in shop environment and take action to correct unacceptable conditions.
Work with Manufacturing to accomplish process capability studies. Guidance from Q.A. will be provided as needed. Create and implement inspection methods for work in process and purchased parts whether called for systematically, on receipt, or via targeted monitoring.
Wide variety of duties requiring considerable judgment to devise new methods or adapt procedures to work to achieve joint objectives of Quality Assurance, Product Engineering and Production. Train various shop personnel in use of inspection equipment, methods and procedures. Provides hand on support in calibration, sample evaluation and other Metrology value added services such as positive material identification and liquid die penetrant inspection
