The Alameda County Water District (ACWD) located in Fremont, CA, is a special purpose public agency whose mission is to provide high quality drinking water to over 320,000 residents in a service area of 100-square miles in the Southern Alameda County in the cities of Fremont, Newark and Union City.
ACWD has a diversity of water supply sources including:
State Project water via the South Bay Aqueduct
· Hetch Hetchy water and treated local water purchased from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission
· Local supplies, including local runoff and groundwater
ACWD has a staff of over 220 dedicated employees and is governed by a five-member elected Board of Directors who, in conjunction with District Management, work to support the District’s priority of preserving and protecting the area’s water resources for current and future generations.
