Office of Surface Mining

The Office of Surface Mining is part of the Department of the Interior. The Department of the Interior is tasked with managing the United States natural resources for continued preservation and recreation. The Office of Surface Mining is a regulatory agency that engages in reclaiming abandoned mine lands damaged during past coal extraction efforts, and current coal production in partnership with the coal companies, states, tribes and other federal agencies. The Office of Surface Mining has a great need for Natural Resource Specialists and scientists, mining engineers, hydrologists, soil scientists and various other natural science fields.
