PPL Montana operates generating facilities with a combined capacity of more than 2,800 megawatts, owning more than 1,200 megawatts of the power.
The company generates power at two coal-fired generating plants — the J.E. Corette facility near Billings and the Colstrip facility — for nearly 2,250 megawatts of capacity. PPL's share in the plants' generating capacity is 683 megawatts.
PPL Montana also owns and operates 11 hydroelectric stations along the Missouri, Flathead, Clark Fork, and Madison rivers and Rosebud Creek. The capacity at these stations is 604 megawatts.
Along with its western marketing and trading business, PPL's Montana operations employ about 500 people at its facilities throughout the state with offices in Billings, Butte and Helena.
