With more than 2,500 students, the SOJC is one of six professional schools at the University of Oregon, which is a comprehensive research university and a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). We are an ACEJMC-accredited journalism and communication school, with a more-than 100-year history focused on innovation, ethics, and storytelling. We currently offer four undergraduate concentrations, five professional and academic master’s programs, and a doctoral program in media studies. The school moved into state-of-the-art facilities in January 2013. The SOJC employs approximately 125 individuals as faculty and staff, 51 graduate teaching fellows, and 50 student employees. The School is one of the oldest journalism programs in the nation, founded in 1916.
The University of Oregon is an AAU research institution and a member of the Pac-12 conference. Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment of 24,600. The Eugene metro area (pop. 375,000) is in a region noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are about an hour’s drive from the Pacific coast and the Cascade Mountains.
