National Stormwater Trust

National Stormwater Trust, Inc. (NST) is a stormwater-focused company that assumes the operation of existing stormwater ponds and deploys technology to provide state-of-the-art stormwater management and treatment services to improve operations, reduce flooding risk, and benefit the environment. NST has a dedicated and innovative team with over a century of stormwater management experience and uses its proprietary and proven methodologies to reduce pollution from stormwater and to price and pay for the infrastructure to do so.

NST proactively manages the collection, storage, and discharge of stormwater utilizing real-time data in a wireless, automated operating system. Also called “Smart Ponds,” NST-managed stormwater facilities utilize Continuously Monitored and Adaptive Control (CMAC) technology to improve treatment performance and reduce flooding by controlling water levels and increasing the storage capacity of the facilities by drawing down water levels prior to forecasted precipitation events.  CMAC-equipped stormwater facilities are about 50% more effective in treating stormwater than conventional facilities and enable verification of water treatment performance in real time.

NST provides its private and government-sector partners with turnkey stormwater ownership and management solutions, resulting in tangible benefits such as water quality improvements and freeing up land or capital used for stormwater infrastructure or operation and maintenance. By acquiring existing stormwater infrastructure and developing new infrastructure on behalf of its partners, NST assumes the financial and regulatory risk of stormwater pond ownership. Through efficient, system-wide management of stormwater infrastructure and the deployment of state-of-the-art “Smart Pond” technology, NST delivers flexible, cost-effective, resilient, and environmentally sustainable stormwater solutions to its partners.
