Momentum Earthworks provides comprehensive construction services to include:  Concrete Work, Demolition, Excavating, Grading, Retaining Walls, Site Concrete and Paving, Snow Removal, Underground Utilities.

Momentum Earthworks was founded in 2011 by President/CEO Hans Harman after he completed an asset purchase of another longstanding local entity formerly known as Quality Excavating. Hans Harman hails from a proud family business tradition of over 80 years of leadership in the Harrisonburg area and greater Shenandoah Valley. Momentum has quickly grown and been recognized as a local leader and reputable brand working for notable entities including but not limited to RMH/Sentara, Augusta Healthcare, Merck, Darden Restaurants, Eastern Mennonite University, James Madison University, University of Virginia, The Smithsonian Institute, Towns of Timberville, Broadway,  Grottoes and the City of Harrisonburg and Rockingham county. Momentum has grown from 7 FT employees in 2011 to a steady workforce of around 85 employees in 2020. We are also very proud to have several long-tenured employees that carry a combined 100+ years of management experience and expertise in our field.

Momentum’s President Hans Harman and other key personnel are very active in the community and construction industry at large. Harman is the President of the AGC of Virginia Valley District as well as a board member of the  Shenandoah Valley Builders Association, and is a member of the board of trustees of Eastern Mennonite University. Harman was named the Harrisonburg/Rockingham Chamber of Commerce’s Entrepreneur of the year in January 2017. Beside the construction industry Harman and other key personnel sit on the boards of several local church based and civic organizations.

Momentum’s team strives very hard to be a valuable and trusted project partner for the entities and customers that we serve. One of the resources that make us unique is that Momentum’s owner Hans Harman is also active in the local development community. The developer experience gives us the advantage of looking at a project through an “owner’s lens”. We are continually seeking ways to improve our efficiency and provide our customers with best-value alternatives. Most importantly “We Dig” what we do at Momentum and try to bring a professional and positive experience to our customers and supporters.
