The Operation Sacred Trust ("OST") Program is charged with bringing unique approaches, experiences and expertise to serve homeless and low-income Veterans in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, located in the heart of South Florida. These counties have been hit particularly hard by the economic downturn as evidenced by the high level of poverty, low median income and skyrocketing foreclosure rates. Veterans have been particularly affected, with over 1,000 homeless Veterans and over 20,000 low-income Veterans living in the service area. Operation Sacred Trust is unique in that it combines proven traditional outreach and case management best practices with novel nontraditional service delivery methods. Funding for this initiative has been awarded by the Veterans Administration Supportive Services for Veteran Families program.
Purpose Built Families Foundation’s Operation Sacred Trust (OST) collaboration is a nationally accredited, public-private partnership for homelessness prevention and rapid rehousing. Fundamental to the approach of OST is attention to factors that create, contribute to, and address problems in living as reflected by challenges to housing stability for low-income Veteran families.
