Weapons Effects Engineer Ft. Overall duties involve providing technical advice and assistance to a government program manager overseeing DTRA’s research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) programs in the areas of Weapons’ Effects Phenomenology and Weapons Mass Destruction (WMD) Agent Defeat Modeling and Simulation, with a focus on countering weapons of mass destruction. Chemical Biological Defense Scientist Physical Scientist 5 Lorton, VA Watermark Risk Management International has an exciting opportunity for a qualified subject matter expert (SME) to provide Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Chemical and Biological Department, Advanced & Emerging Threats Division (RD CBS). The successful candidate will serve as an action officer and advisor for a science and technology portfolio of projects to counter chemical threats, providing support related to pre-clinical experimental design/execution and drug development for chemical medical countermeasures (MCMs). Requirements: • Detail-oriented, self-starter with excellent communication and time management skills • Demonstrated drug development experience in MCM candidate discovery and/or preclinical development of small molecule drugs or biologics • Knowledge of traditional and emerging chemical warfare agents • Familiarity with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and processes, including the “Animal Rule” • Detail-oriented, self-starter with excellent communication and time management skills • High-level proficiency with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; ability to quickly learn to use new IT systems and software In this role you will: • Leverage drug discovery and or preclinical development expertise to review proposals, technical reports, experimental or theoretical techniques, scientific studies and statements of work to ensure technical validity and evaluate current and emerging medical technologies • Develop, review and assess documentation (e.g., Alignment Charts; Research, Development and Acquisition Plans; Technology Development Strategy; technical and cost reasonableness evaluations, independent cost estimates; Purchase Request Packages, etc.) • Participate in Integrated Product Teams and serve as technical and programmatic point of contact • Understand capability gaps and assist in setting project- and product-level strategy and priorities, ensuring portfolios are responsive and mapped to program goals • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders in the Chemical Biological defense community • Provide support to and coordination of acquisition and planning, programming, budgeting, and execution processes • Assist in setting portfolio, project, and product level strategy and priorities • Ensure portfolios are responsive and mapped to program goals and requirements • Coordinate and consolidate complex, technical, programmatic, and strategic responses to support division initiatives to a variety of internal and external audiences • Create briefings and products for both technical and senior leader audiences • Track cost, schedule, and performance of chemical and biological defense related technical projects to ensure they continue to meet the objectives of the program • Advise the program team on risk assessment and risk management, technology portfolio and pipeline management, business and contracting strategies, technology transfers, and intellectual property management Education: • Bachelor of Science plus 14 years of relevant experience, M.S. or M.B.A. plus 12 years of relevant experience; or Ph.D. with 9 years relevant experience Security Clearance: • DOD Secret level clearance Preferred Qualifications: • Three (3) years of project management and or acquisition experience in research and development • Knowledge of the DoD Chemical and Biological Defense Program (CBDP) and DoD acquisition policies • Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the PMI • Combination of successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Chemistry, Pharmacology, Toxicology, Neuroscience, Physiology, Medicinal Chemistry or a related discipline CLICK ON LINK BELOW TO BE DIRECTED TO OUR WEBSITE FOR YOUR APPLICATION: https://wrmi-llc.com/careers/chemical-biological-defense-scientist-physical-scientist-5-lorton-va/ Watermark Risk Management International, LLC is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer  and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, military service, or other non-merit factors.
