Our local council, Crossroads of America Council, headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, serves 34,000 youth and adult volunteers in 26 counties in central Indiana. Family Scouting Executive position
Seeking energetic & self-motivated individuals to serve as a Family Scouting Executive. The Family Scouting Executive will be part of a high-energy team serving as the driving force behind the Crossroads of America’s top priority to open the doors wide for all youth and families to join Scouting’s programs. The Family Scouting Executive works cooperatively with a volunteer task force create and implement a multi-year plan. Compensation and Benefits
All councils are equal opportunity employers. In addition to offering a competitive salary range of $39,500-42,000, based on experience. The Crossroads of America Council of the Boy Scouts of America offers a competitive package of benefits to team members. Annual salary adjustments are based on an individual's contributions and overall performance.
Training
Comprehensive professional training opportunities are provided during the first three years of tenure. Annual training and development opportunities continue throughout the career.
Overall responsibilities include:
· Conduct council-wide market analysis resulting in a coordinated sales effort to create Family Scouting programs.
· Help to recruit and guide a family Scouting Task Force.
· Proudly and courageously focus on inviting families through campaigns, promotion efforts and market-based strategies with respect to gender representation and ethnic diversity.
· Communicate by encouraging and inspiring involvement through education, training, listening, supporting and ease of participation in Scouting programs.
· Celebrate all-boy Scouting units while executing joining events for new units that will serve girls in areas of need. Create and execute programs to engage and prepare girls to participate in Scouting programs.
· Serve as a resource to local Scouting leaders and staff to ensure high quality and sustainability of programs.
· Work cooperatively with staff to leverage opportunities for growth, Coordinate efforts to expand Scouting’s reach to educational, religious and other community leaders to ensure that Scouting is accessible to all girls and boys throughout the 25 counties in the Crossroads of America Council.
· Achieve progress towards specific goals and objectives which include: program development through collaborative relationships, volunteer recruitment and training, fundraising, membership recruitment and retention.
· Be responsible for extending programs to religious, civic, fraternal, educational, and other community-based organizations through volunteers.
· Ensure that all program sites are served through volunteers, regular leader meetings, training events and activities.
· Collaborate with adult volunteers and oversee achievement of training for their respective role.
· Be a good role model and recognize the importance of working relationships with other professionals and volunteers. The executive must have communication skills and be able to explain the program’s goals and objectives to the public.
· Provide quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, training events and activities.
· Have a willingness and ability to devote long and irregular hours to achieve council and district objectives.
Desired Skills:
· Marketing and program development background is highly desired (including college experiences).
· Nonprofit, fundraising, or sales experience is a plus.
· Must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences. Excellent people skills, enthusiastic, punctual, responsible and creative.
· Self-motivated individual with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills in management, budgeting, and planning.
· Committed to personal and professional productivity, while maintaining high ethical and professional working standards.
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (transcript with the date degree conferred stated is required for employment).
· 21 years of age or older unless prohibited by any applicable law.
· Ability to work varied hours when necessary, evening activities and weekend work is frequently required to achieve positive objectives.
· Ability to travel for training at least once a year for one week.
· A Scouting background is helpful but not required for employment.
