Job Duties:
- Inspect mechanical components of vehicles to identify problems.
- Adjust vehicle components per specifications.
- Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning.
- Operate transportation equipment to demonstrate function or malfunction.
- Service vehicles to maintain functionality.
- Operate cranes, hoists, or other moving or lifting equipment.
- Test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Repair defective engines or engine components.
- Measure distances or dimensions.
- Observe equipment in operation to detect potential problems.
- Rebuild parts or components.
- Replace worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts.
- Rewire electrical or electronic systems.
- Align equipment or machinery.
- Repair non-engine automotive or vehicle components.
- Install vehicle parts or accessories.
- Dismantle heavy equipment or machinery.
- Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
- Measure equipment outputs.
- Grind parts to required dimensions.
- Complies with safety and EPA regulations as well as internal controls.
- Accountable for all direct and indirect labor (10% or less) on a daily and weekly basis.
- Completes all work orders in a timely manner, ensuring all labor and parts are charged to the appropriate work order line and comments are entered; understands reason and task codes and signs and checks parts order form.
- Returns all unused parts to the parts room.
- Works with parts supervisor to check out parts with them and to have them scanned.
- Tags all warranty parts with appropriate information.
- Responsible for cleanliness of work area, keeping spills and grease to a minimum.
- Returns uniform to be cleaned weekly. Responsible for neat appearance. Keeps hygiene to an acceptable level.

Desired Skills and Expertise:
High School diploma/GED equivalence, Diesel mechanic 0-5 years’ experience, strong diagnostic aptitude, valid driver’s license, CDL license or ability to obtain, communication skills, teamwork, Own hand tools preferred, eagerness to learn, professionalism, minimal to basic computer skills.
