SUMMARY The Avionics Light Helicopter Technician installs, test, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies and maintains aircraft avionics and electrical system components in accordance with testing, engineering, maintenance and installation directives on operating aircraft. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. SUMMARY Provides leadership and management to FAA Part 145 repair station operations personnel in executing work packages in support of single and twin engine helicopter completions, repairs, overhauls and model conversions. Work scope includes both military and commercial aircraft. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Manage the day-to-day operations of the repair station Ensure the aircraft delivery schedule to the customer is achieved on a consistent basis Work within and outside the Operations function to resolve issues that affect the repair station such as non-conformances, material shortages, ground and flight test squawks, manpower, tooling or facility issues, etc. Implement and maintain Visual Management and Daily Accountability on the repair station floor Implement Continuous Improvement across the entire repair station process Develop and maintain a performance driven organization with the appropriate blend of skills sets and headcount to meet the repair station delivery schedule Regular interface with on-site DCMA personnel regarding US Government aircraft Irregular interface with FAA personnel regarding commercial aircraft Maintain Part 145 repair station and AS9110 compliance Other duties may be assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage employees based on organizational goals and company policy Provide overall direction and coordination of resources supporting repair station activity Position manages repair station technicians (structural, avionics, A&P), tool crib, paint shop and production planning Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems Qualifications SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to communicate effective both verbally and in written form Capability to quickly internalize and address issues and opportunities Self-starter that requires minimum direction and support Ability to motivate and energize employees Lead by example Proactive problem solver Transparency/ elevate issues in a timely manner EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from four-year College or University and 10-15 years (minimum) related experience in an aerospace manufacturing and/ or repairs; or equivalent combination of education and experience 5 plus years of experience specifically in a Part 145 repair station Demonstrated experience effectively leading and managing a workforce of 50+ technician personnel to meet delivery objectives Experience working in a "custom shop" environment where flexibility and problem solving actions are required on a daily basis to achieve tight customer delivery schedules is key to the success of this role. Strong aerospace technical background is preferred; Experience with aircraft structures, mechanicals, power plant & drive systems, avionics and aircraft ground and flight testing is a plus Must have knowledge of, and practical experience with the AS9110 quality management standard, Material Review Board (MRB) and Corrective Action Request (CAR) processes, FAA Part 145 regulations and Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems Must be able to interpret manufacturing prints and specs Experience implementing and working in a Lean environment Leadership: demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others Planning: ability to think ahead and plan over a one- to two-year time span Management: ability to organize and manage multiple priorities Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and a functional level Strong customer orientation Must have excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.
