Facility Response Trainer

Position Overview:
Support LRS Federal operations supporting, environmental training and environmental services such as on-water oily hazardous substance (OHS) emergency response training, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training, multi-media environmental training, and environmental program support as required. This position requires employee to travel inside the continental United States and overseas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform assigned tasks with or without direct supervision supporting LRS Federal’s customers and their unique project needs.
  2. Perform instructor lead training on-site as directed worldwide at client locations.
  3. Provide emergency response periods of instruction to include On-Water Oily Hazardous Substance (OHS) facility response, and HAZWOPER training courses.
  4. Provide periods of instruction in a classroom environment and outdoors on small craft as required to meet training objectives.
  5. Utilize computer and other electronic devices for delivery of training.
  6. Develop courseware and training aids that relate to the required training objectives.
  7. Develop training scenarios and tabletop drills to meet site specific requirements and goals to reduce the impact of OHS released into the environment.
  8. Provide guidance on improvements to site specific response directives and guidelines to improve the response posture of the facility.
  9. Complete course administrative documents such as student rosters, training reports and other required course administrative documents.
  10. Conduct spill response equipment inspections for serviceability and accountability of assigned facility response equipment and property.
  11. Setup travel arrangements to and from training site worldwide.
  12. Understand small craft operations and maritime navigation requirements.
  13. Understand military customs, courtesies and rank structure.
  14. Understand and comply with company and on-site client safety standards. 
  15. Deliver and complete work assignments on time as directed.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Experience conducting instructor lead training courses. (Certified Train the Train or Instructor certification is a plus)
  2. Must have a clear and legible voice and understand instructor to student interactions to aid in the delivery of the period of instruction.
  3. Must have experience with reclamation of OHS releases on water and land to include but not limited to booming operations, skimming operations, decontamination procedures, and operation of small craft.
  4. Must have knowledge of environmental programs such as HW, HM, AQ, SW and SPCC.
  5. Must have knowledge on how to operate small craft (boats) and safe navigation principles.
  6. HAZWOPER certified up to the Technician Level. If certification is not valid then the applicant will be required to re-certify.
  7. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs., stoop, crawl, bend, push, pull and walk on uneven terrain, small craft in the water, slippery conditions, and stand for long periods of time. 
  8. Must be computer literate.
  9. Must have knowledge of Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Word.
  10. Must be able to fly long distances to overseas locations.
  11. Must be willing to travel on short notice.
  12. Must be able to use hand tools and wear personal protective equipment.
  13. Must be able to swim.
  14. Must be able to work in an outdoor atmosphere, including hot, cold and damp weather.
