Position Description:
• Patrol state highways, promote safety, direct traffic, and investigate crashes.
• Enforce traffic laws, arrest offenders, and appear as a court witness.
• Provide routine and emergency assistance to the motoring public, including administering first aid to the injured.
• Cooperate with other law enforcement agencies in the pursuit and apprehension of violators of criminal laws.
LETO Trooper Applicant Requirements:
Applicants must possess an Associate’s degree or higher in any discipline from a regionally accredited college or university prior to August 11th, 2017. The Minnesota State Patrol will provide LETO applicants with the educational requirements necessary to take the Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) exam required to become a licensed peace officer. LETO Applications open May 1- May 26.
Traditional Trooper Applicant Requirements:
•Applicants must have a two or four year degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
•Must have completed a law enforcement Skills Program
•Must be Minnesota Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (POST) license eligible by January 12, 2018.
