JANSON Communications is seeking a highly experienced Communications Specialist with planner capabilities, to work full-time on a client site in the National Capitol Region (NCR) with local travel between sites.

This position requires an experienced professional who is knowledgeable of and skilled in all aspects of the strategic communications domain with experience in communications strategy and planning, analytics, demonstrated communications leadership, outreach and public relations strategies targeted to internal and external Department of Defense audiences. Candidates with a background in strategy, writing, communications planning and program leadership are strongly encouraged to apply.

REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Organizational Communications or other related field
• 7 years of experience with strategic communications planning, strategy formulation, and tactical communications integration and products.
• A deep understanding of strategic communications planning and program integration.
• Ability to effectively compose written content for client deliverables.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong technology skills, including experience using MS Office products, MS Project (or equivalent), web browsers and other technology resources

PREFERENCES

• A Master’s degree in a Mass Communications or related field
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience with Government strategic communications organizations and/or related projects

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE (7-8 YEARS)

• An excellent communicator, writer, strategic thinker and planner with strong problem-solving skills.
• Knowledgeable of strategic communications metrics and measurement methodologies.
• Effective communications planner with extensive experience in supporting large companies, DoD and or other government organizations.
• Motivated and possess a strong desire to advance to communications analyst and strategist positions within the company.
• Adept at assuming responsibility and ownership of their work.
• A consummate professional and an effective strategic communications practitioner.

Candidate’s primary responsibilities :

• Demonstrate strong strategic communications skills, including organizational communications, public relations and public affairs, risk and crisis communications, public outreach, stakeholder management, communications metrics and measurement, and marketing.
• Serve as a communications leader on assigned strategic communications projects/contracts producing and managing deliverables of the highest quality.
• Ensure the implementation and maintenance of assigned communications programs task(s) that support(s) the client service objectives.
• Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the client, service team, and peer communications strategist.
• Maintain awareness of current strategic communications tools and techniques used within the communications practice.
• Recommend communications strategies and plans designed to achieve client goals and objectives.
• Develop and execute communication strategy planning and message management functions that drive communication service and product development.
• Participate in the preparation of weekly/monthly/quarterly reports, as required.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends based on project requirement.

TRAVEL: Will travel as necessary to achieve corporate objectives.
