Monteforte Bakery has a broad customer base. It services delicatessens, bodegas, restaurants, caterers and pizzerias, as well as schools and grocery stores, all accomplished through company owned routes and multiple independent distributors.
Current customers include Best Market, Nassau BOCES, and SYSCO Food Services.
Our History and Mission
J&S Licata Brothers incorporated in New York in April of 1988. The bakery previously operated in Ozone Park as Monteforte Bakery. Joe and Sal, a 3rd generation of bakers, worked alongside their father, Joe Sr, until his retirement in 2000. Outgrowing the Ozone Park location, the bakery relocated to Richmond Hill in 1994 as part of NYC’s Industrial & Commercial Incentive Program (ICIP).
As the bakery continued to grow, Joe and Sal found the need to expand and modernize the operations. Innovative and creative designs included an additional oven, an overhead cooling conveyor system, slicing and wrapping machines. These changes enabled the bakery to continue its growth and establish its newest line of sliced bread, BAKERS BEST.

The bakery has approximately 25 employees consisting of the office, manufacturing/production and delivery staff. It sells its bread throughout Nassau and Suffolk as well as in the 5 boroughs by means of multiple distributors. In 2015, sales were approximately $3,000,000.
