JOB DESCRIPTION
MECHANIC- Fitter/ Welder   Reports To: Supt.,
        Foreman or Leaderman

Basic Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of supervision, the fitter/welder mechanic repairs/fabricates heat exchangers using burning, fitting and welding procedures.

Major Duties:

• Gathers the needed tools, reviews drawings and specifications needed to begin work.
• Set up job based on shop practices and safety procedures.
• Burn, fits, welds pieces to form the component to specified dimensions.
• Grinds weld after completion of welding.
• Assist in training of lesser skilled mechanics (fitters/welders).
• Performs the assigned tasks in a safe manner, avoiding all unsafe practices.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

Knowledge  High School Diploma preferred – knowledge of fitting/welding required, O.J.T.                    s                                   satisfactory.

Skills  Blue print reading, read and write English language, and ability to pass ASME                        w          welding test. Perform basic shop math.
