The District of Columbia Government is hosting a VIRTUAL WINTER HIRING FAIR on December 8 and 9, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST. The DC's Department of Human Resources (DCHR) will hold an Advanced Registration for the said event starting today, November 30th (7:30 p.m. EST) and will run until Monday, December 5th (7:30 p.m. EST). Job seekers who wish to participate are required to register.
DHCR will take advantage of a virtual platform to pre-screen candidates. This pre-screening process will start on December 1st to review all submitted applications and resumes. Afterwards, the selected candidates will be interviewed on the day of the event, either December 8th or 9th - depending on schedule.
Chosen candidates will receive a formal email invitation with further instructions. It's the event's goal to have participating agencies make on the spot job offers; however, please expect that some offers may be made after the event pending any required suitability compliance standards. Several positions will be opened under different departments, including but not limited to: health and human services, public safety, planning and economic development, internal services and operations and infrastructure.
All applicants are offered the opportunity to claim additional preferences like District residency, military service, and foster care as applicable. If you are a veteran (and/or has disabilities from military service), you'll be able to claim veteran’s preference when you submit a copy of your DD214 on the day of the event.
To further assist or accommodate candidates prior to the event, DCHR's Center for Learning and Development (CLD) is also HOSTING TWO (2) PREPARATION SEMINARS TODAY. This seminar aims to provide tips on resume writing, how to answer interview questions, how to best engage with recruiters on a virtual platform, and how to navigate the platform to avoid unnecessary issues during hiring day.
