Here is an early disclaimer: each day will of course be different from the previous one. As Forrest Gump has put it: "Life is a box of chocolates; you never know what you're going to get." But typically, a pest control technician will get up early because he/she is eager to get his/her day started. At Plunkett's, a positive attitude towards work is the first thing that will be inculcated since pest management is neither a job for the weak of heart nor for those with meager interest.
The technician will then prepare his/her own service vehicle and begin the day's route. The daily service will vary in terms of the size of the account assigned to the technician which will then dictate the number and types of places that will need to be checked. Plunkett's cater to homes, restaurants, offices, schools, hospitals, etc. At each account, there is a contact person with whom the technician will liaise with so interpersonal communication skills is a must for this role.
After discussing the pest concerns with the contact person, the technician will proceed to inspect the premises - where he/she will check for pests or for conditions that could allow pests into the client's property. If pests are confirmed, the technician will analyze how to keep them out and suggest recommendations based on that analysis. If needed, technicians may use extermination methods or other pest management products according to label directions. At all times, technicians should put safety first while considering efficacy and value for money altogether.
In summary, a Route Technician should be an efficient and amicable communicator who can solve different pest problems critically.
