Copper is the mineral of life. It is one of the first metals extracted and utilized by mankind. Unsurprisingly, it is also found throughout the body. It is a key component in collagen formation needed by our bones and connective tissues. It also helps our bodies make red blood cells, keeping our nerve cells and immune systems healthy. As a metal, it has been known for its malleability and ductility. It can be stretched, molded and shaped to different forms without ever breaking. It is also resistant to corrosion and is a good conductor of heat and electricity. It is safe to say that that is why copper stood the test of time. Copper tools ushered humanity to the Bronze Age from the Stone Era.
Since the olden days, copper continues to be used in the present times. We can find its presence in the industrial, medical, technological, and domestic sectors. There are coppers in industrial machineries such as pipe systems, electrical motors, evaporators, condensers, heat exchangers, valves and containers for holding corrosive mediums. Copper alloys are also used in hospital countertops, doorknobs, handrails, bedrails, call buttons, chairs and even pens because of its antibacterial properties. Your cell phones, laptops, TVs, power tools and even robotic vacuum cleaners contain copper as electric conductor.
Pinto Valley Mine is the global leader in copper and molybdenum production. It remains as the only surviving and fully operating mill in the historic Globe-Miami mining district of Arizona -- one of the oldest and high yielding mining districts in the United States. Its first recorded production of copper is in 1975. To date, Pinto Valley has produced more than 4 BILLION POUNDS OF COPPER, including 0.5 billion pounds of copper cathode.
With their immense job opportunities, Pinto Valley is committed to molding a skilled and engaged workforce for responsible delivery of copper to the rest of the world. Their global efforts are also very much geared towards creating ingenious ways of building a lower-carbon future. Pinto Valley has opened its doors to U.S. veterans, military spouses and transitioning members. They are in need of skilled professionals in the field of industrial technology, electronics, and mining.
Pinto Valley is an open-pit mine located at the west end of central Arizona in the greater Phoenix metro area. It started operation in 1972 and has produced copper since 1975. Several mines and numerous prospects have been developed in the area but Pinto Valley remains as the sole operational mine in this historic Globe-Miami district. In 2013, Capstone Copper acquired the mining company from BHP. Pinto Valley creates approximately 2,250 direct and secondary (subcontractor) jobs for Arizona each year. The mine received a new US Forest Service Mine Plan of Operations in November 2021 and is fully permitted to operate for the duration of the current life of mine plan, until 2039. Permitting plans for the next phase of mining beyond 2039 are also currently underway.
Pinto Valley, under the operations of Capstone Copper, aims to become not only the leading supplier of copper but also the frontrunners in sustainable copper production and usage. The company's inspiration is not only rooted to building a better future for the next generation. They are also driven to create a healthier and safer environment for their current employees who are literally in the frontlines everyday. Copper is also extracted from mining operations so environment protection also means livelihood preservation for the company.
