Under limited supervision, this position directs the City’s emergency management operations, coordinating with external agencies and volunteer groups. Responsible for the preparation, response, recovery, and mitigation of disasters and emergencies, following  FEMA guidelines , as well as building a more resilient community . They undertake restoration projects on preserves and maintain equipment. The Equipment Operator/Maintenance Mechanic operates heavy machinery, leads work teams, remove exotic species and/or conducts species monitoring and manages livestock, if necessary. They will serve on the fire crew and assist with inventory and purchasing of machinery. May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.
