University of Michigan Job Summary The Safety Technician, Intermediate's (STI) primary role is decontamination of patient care rooms. The STI will utilize specialized machinery that emits hydrogen peroxide vapor and/or hydrogen peroxide mist to effectively destroy pathogens. This process will work in conjunction with infection control policies and procedures to sanitize Michigan Medicine rooms that have been identified as needing specialized sanitization. These functions will be performed daily on a preventative and proactive basis. The STI will operate under the supervision of either the Environmental Services Supervisor, Manager, or Training Specialist for the assigned shift.
