Fellows develop their leadership potential through 9-week department positions within the museum. Placements allow participants to work directly with and be mentored by committed senior and mid level PEM professionals. Peabody Essex Museum The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA is seeking candidates for the Overnight Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator position. SOC Operators monitor computer-driven access control, surveillance, and life-safety systems throughout the museum campus. The SOC also coordinates incident response with alarm service vendors, emergency responders and in-house security staff. Additional duties include maintaining daily activity logs, filing incident reports, operational and performance tests of relevant systems, and basic maintenance of control center equipment. SOC operators must have a strong working knowledge of security field operations in order to successfully coordinate effective response procedures. Peabody Essex Museum Peabody Essex Museum seeks volunteers to help maintain its Ropes Mansion Garden at 318 Essex Street in Salem, MA, as well as other properties on PEM's campus. The Ropes Mansion's Colonial Revival garden brims with plant life and activity all summer long. The garden has been in operation for over a century and welcomes thousands of visitors each year. Volunteers are needed from April through October to help with all aspects of gardening, including planting, pruning, weeding and general care and upkeep. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least 4 hours per month for 3 months. Hours are flexible and half and full-day time slots are available.
