Peabody Essex Museum The Peabody Essex Museum's Phillips Library seeks a full-time Assistant Cataloging Librarian to fulfill the role of primary cataloger on staff, an essential role to improve intellectual and physical access to our collections. Peabody Essex Museum Join the Phillips Library, PEM's research library, as digital projects intern for Summer 2026! Our digitization program exponentially increases free, worldwide access to our collections and demonstrates that the library is a vital and engaged part of the museum and its communities. The project will include digitization for our online collections portal, including the imaging and post-processing of collections. The incumbent will conduct research into the copyright of our collections and create metadata using local rules. The incumbent may also inventory glass plate negatives and prepare materials for digitization to be completed by our external partners. Peabody Essex Museum The Peabody Essex Museum's Phillips Library seeks a temporary, project-based Manuscript Processing and Digitization Assistant to aid in the photography of manuscript material from the Phillips Library's collections. Digitized materials come from the Pingree Family Papers, a substantial archival collection of personal manuscripts and business records donated to the Phillips Library by the descendants of the Pingree Family of Salem, Massachusetts. The assistant will be responsible for photographing select materials according to established standards and local practices on our DT Versa and BC-100 systems. The assistant will also upload and create metadata for digitized files, as well as perform some digital preservation tasks. Some library experience is desired. Peabody Essex Museum Frances E. Malamy had deep roots within PEM and the Phillips Library. A long-standing member of the museum family, she dedicated tireless hours processing manuscripts. She was a unique and extraordinary individual who firmly believed that the Phillips Library provides value to the academic community and the public, and realized the importance of the collection and its outreach impact on the greater intellectual world. To sustain the contributions that Frances made to the library, her husband Michael and her two children, Jocelyn and Adam, have funded this fellowship as a lasting tribute to her memory and her interest in the Phillips Library and the world of scholarship. The Frances E. Malamy Research Fellowship is awarded to one recipient each year to perform independent scholarly research.
