THE DEPARTMENT The Student Health Center provides first aid and basic out-patient care services. We have a full time staff Monday through Friday to care for your needs. First aid is always available during clinic hours to anyone on campus. Please dial 911 for emergencies from anywhere on campus for assistance. We are staffed with Doctors, Psychiatrists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Medical Assistants, Pharmacists, and Health Educators. Our center has contracted with local lab and X-ray services for our students. Our psychiatric services are limited to psychiatric medication evaluation and management.
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Student Health Center, Director of the Counseling and Psychological Services, and Medical Chief of Staff, the Psychiatrist performs assigned medical psychiatric treatment to CSUSB students. Typical activities include, but are not limited to:
Provide direct therapeutic services in the form of diagnostic assessments and medication/somatic treatment for individuals as assigned by the Student Health Center Director, Counseling and Psychological Services Director and other Health Care Providers in the Student Health and Counseling and Psychological Services Center.
Participate on the interdisciplinary team; Provides advising and making recommendations of the students overall treatment plan.
Responsible for maintaining client records in accordance with established policies and procedures
In collaboration with other clinicians will develop, maintain, and monitor a clinical case management system to provide continuity of care and follow-up for higher-need clients.
Initiate and develop on-going liaison relationships with community health providers, services, hospitals, and other resources.
Develop and maintain a database of referral resources and services in surrounding communities
As determined by case management demand, provide direct time-limited therapy, group therapy, outreach services, and supervision to trainees
Act as a consultant to assist providers and counselors with daytime and on-call crisis services
Consult with faculty, staff, students and family members, who are concerned about a student while adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
Required to periodically or travel as needed the Palm Desert Campus Student Health Center.
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of psychiatric duties.
Education and Experience Graduation from a medical school recognized by the Medical Board of California. Board certified psychiatrist, graduated from an ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accredited psychiatry residency program. Prior or current affiliation with a hospital or outpatient clinic is preferred. Familiarity with Electronic Medical Record System (EMR), Medicat and Titanium systems is preferred. License and Certification Requirements Incumbents must possess and maintain the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in the State of California, including the following:
A valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.
Current board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) specialty or subspecialty appropriate for their assigned specialty duties.
A valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration and number for prescribing controlled substances.
Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator (CPR/AED) certification as appropriate for the assigned duties.
Note : In accordance with Executive Order 943, board certification is required for all physicians hired after September 1, 1988. A physician can be given clinical privileges pending initial certification, but must be board certified as soon as possible, but no later than two years after the date of hire. If a physician loses certification thereafter, then the physician may be allowed to continue to provide health care for up to one year while recertification is obtained. If the physician is not recertified within the one-year grace period, then the physician's clinical privileges in the Student Health Center may be suspended immediately. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Thorough knowledge to effectively apply principles and methods essential to psychiatry, and the diagnosis and treatment of common medical disorders, and in the assessment and response to emergency situations. Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the medical field and psychiatry. Thorough knowledge of applicable professional ethics and standards which include but not limited to the County Medical Society, California Medical Association, and the American Medical Association. Ability and specialized skills to: serve as a mentor and resource consultant for other health center personnel and establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of medical practitioners and specialist, as well as students, faculty and staff.

SEEKING INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR DOG WALKERS (2): Independent Contractors (ICs) needed to do private walks and group dog walks. Walking opportunities in Oakland and Berkeley, CA.
We find and screen your walking clients and refer to you.
You will have an app on your smart phone that shows your schedule for the day and is GPS-enabled.
Your invoice will be automatically generated at the end of the month and we pay the first of the month—direct deposit or check. (We bill the clients and if the client pays us late, that doesn’t affect your pay—you always get paid on time!)
If you would like a vacation or have an emergency, no worries. We have a full-time floater who will be trained on your dogs so your dogs will be covered.
If your car poops out, we have a dog-walk-ready vehicle you can rent for $15/day.
While we don’t offer training, we will observe you walking dogs and invite you to observe some of our superstar ICs. It’s a great way to learn some of the best places to walk dogs in the East Bay and how we handle a wide variety of dogs.
We are an R+ (positive-reinforcement) dog walking company; we don’t do corrections, use prong collars, choke chains, or electronic/shock collars. We motivate dogs to do what we’d like with treats, happy voice, and life rewards (getting a toy or getting to run free in safe areas).

To work with us, you must have your own business license and liability insurance. If you don’t have those already, we can forward insurance company contacts to you. If you choose to walk dogs in the EBRPD (East Bay Regional Park District), you must get your own permit. There are two other park systems that dog walkers use, so if you don’t want to get a permit, we just ask you to please not walk your dogs in EBRPD parks.
You will be paid 60% of what the client pays us.
We have many ICs who have worked with us for a long time, (two for 10 years,) probably because we have a “team” approach and support ICs in many ways, whether it’s going out to help you find a dog who’s bolted on the trail or finding you clients in the area you want to work. We strive to have a long term, respectful relationship with independent contractors.
